Katherine Johnson

 Katherine Johnson (Hidden figure of National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics) Katherine Johnson was a pioneer in the field of space exploration and a trailblazer for women and minorities in science and technology. She was a mathematician who worked for NASA and helped calculate trajectories for space missions. Her work was critical to the success of many space missions, including the first American in space and the Apollo 11 mission that landed on the moon. She was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2015. She passed away in February 2020 at the age of 101. Katherine Johnson was born in 1918 in West Virginia. She graduated from high school at 14 and from college at 18.
